Ahwatukee Little League Gears Up for 2026 Season with Community-Focused Initiatives |
Winter Camp and Registration Open as League Strengthens Local Partnerships |
Ahwatukee Little League is more than just baseball; it's a vibrant community where families, volunteers, and local businesses unite to support our youth.
As the 2026 season approaches, the league is excited to offer a special pre-season camp during winter break.
Designed for players aged 7 to 12, this two-day development clinic will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on December 29-30 at Mountain Vista Park, located at 13601 S. 50th Street in Ahwatukee.
The camp fee is $125 per player, with participation capped at 100 players to ensure personalized attention.
This initiative highlights the league's growing collaboration with local high school sports programs.
Garvin Alston Jr., head coach of Mountain Pointe High School's varsity baseball team and an Ahwatukee Little League alumnus, will be actively involved in the camp.
Alston, who played collegiate baseball at Arizona State University and spent seven years in professional baseball, emphasizes the importance of connecting young players with older athletes in the community.
He believes that when little leaguers envision themselves as high school and eventually professional players, their confidence grows.
Ahwatukee baseball boasts a strong sense of community and a history of elite talent, and Alston is eager to coach the next generation.
Lunch for all participants and coaches will be generously provided by league sponsors Nello’s Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen and Zzeeks Pizza.
Registration for the upcoming season is $175, which includes a personalized Nike jersey featuring the player's last name, along with a hat, belt, and socks.
The league will celebrate its season kickoff and opening day ceremony on February 21.
Player evaluations for ages 7-12 are scheduled for January 10 and January 17 at Mountain Vista Park.
Anthony Sisneroz, the league’s new chief commissioner, highlights the unique culture of the league, where coaches, families, and volunteers invest time and heart into the kids.
He is excited to build on that energy to make this season a great experience for every player.
Sisneroz also expresses pride in having Garvin Alston Jr. involved with the Winter Camp, noting that as Mountain Pointe’s varsity head coach, Alston is not just teaching baseball but also helping local kids feel supported, connected, and inspired in the same community that shaped his path.

In addition to the Little League activities, Ahwatukee offers a variety of community events to engage residents.
On January 2, 2026, the community will host the First Friday Art Walk, a vibrant celebration of art, culture, music, and community in downtown Phoenix's Roosevelt Row.
This event transforms the area into a lively hub, featuring over 70 galleries and vendors, and is free to the public.
It's an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy local art and culture.
Additionally, the Ahwatukee Farmers Market is held every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ahwatukee Swim & Tennis Center, located at 4700 E Warner Rd.
The market offers a variety of fresh produce, local goods, and a chance to connect with community members.
These events, along with the Little League's initiatives, showcase Ahwatukee's commitment to fostering a strong, connected, and active community. |
